Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your personal information when you visit briantrauth.com, contact me about advisory or speaking work, or work with me. I’ve kept it short and in plain English. If anything is unclear, email me at contact@briantrauth.com.
Who I am
This website and the advisory and speaking business behind it are operated by Exordium Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17490670. For data-protection purposes the company is the “controller” of the personal information described here, which means it decides why and how that information is used. In this policy, “I” and “me” refer to the company and to me, Brian Trauth, its director, because I am the person who actually handles your information.

What I collect and why
Enquiries. When you use the contact form or email me, I receive your email address, your name and message if you include them, and anything you choose to send afterwards. I use this to reply, arrange a conversation, and follow up on the work you are considering. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you chose to send. I don’t use your details for marketing, and there is no mailing list to be added to.
Meetings. First conversations usually happen on Google Meet. I don’t record meetings or use AI note-takers. I keep my own notes of what we discussed and any follow-up actions.
Working together. If an enquiry becomes an engagement, I keep the correspondence, agreed scope, notes and documents needed to do the work, run the relationship, and meet my accounting and legal obligations. Legal basis: performance of the contract where it is with you personally; legitimate interests in serving the client organisation where it is with your company; and legal obligation for records I am required to keep.
Introductions. If someone introduces us, I receive your name, role and business contact details from them, and use them only to consider and respond to the introduction.
Visiting the site. The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any host, it processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver the site securely and reliably. I also use two visitor-statistics services to see which pages are read and how the site performs. Cloudflare Web Analytics uses no cookies and does not identify you individually. Google Analytics uses cookies and runs only if you accept it. You can browse without giving me any information. If you don’t provide an email address on the form, I simply can’t reply.
Cookies
This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies on your device. It only loads if you accept it in the banner, and you can change your mind at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.
Who receives your information
I don’t sell or share your information for marketing. It is handled by the services I use to run the website and the business:
- Google Workspace, for email, documents and Google Meet.
- Cloudflare, which serves the website.
- Web3Forms, which relays contact-form submissions to my inbox and keeps a copy for a limited period.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics, for aggregate page-view and performance figures.
- OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Anthropic (Claude), AI-assisted tools I may use to search and summarise my business email.
- My accountant and, where relevant, legal advisors.
- Where an engagement requires it, the people involved in the work, such as your own team or advisors.
Any use of AI tools on client materials, beyond that email assistance, is agreed separately as part of an engagement.
Information processed outside the UK
Most of these providers, including Google, Cloudflare, OpenAI and Anthropic, are US companies, and Web3Forms operates from India, so your information may be processed in the United States or India. Where that happens I rely on the recognised safeguards: the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the Standard Contractual Clauses. Ask me if you’d like details.
How long I keep it
I keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it is held.
- Enquiries: until the enquiry is resolved and no further follow-up is reasonably expected, or a question or complaint about it has been dealt with.
- Professional contacts and ongoing relationships: while there is a continuing business relationship or a reasonable expectation of further contact.
- Client records: for as long as needed to provide and document the work, administer the relationship, and meet legal, accounting and limitation-period obligations.
- Hosting and security logs: for the short period Cloudflare retains them.
I review older business records at least annually and delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed. Information may be deleted sooner when its purpose has ended, and you can ask me at any time to review whether information about you still needs to be kept.
Your rights
You can ask me to access, correct, delete or restrict your information, to receive it in a portable form, or to object to my use of it where I rely on legitimate interests. Email contact@briantrauth.com and I will respond within one month. I may need to confirm your identity first.
I don’t make automated decisions about you.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, contact me first and I’ll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top shows when this policy was last updated. I’ll update it whenever the way I use information changes.
